Nirbi Mains Power Failure Detector is a professional quality power outage detector made in France. It is designed to monitor single-phase 230V – 50Hz European electrical networks.

  • In the event of an outage, it immediately sends a LoRa message.
  • If mains voltage is restored, it sends a new LoRa message.
  • Every 24 hours, a LoRa good functioning message is sent.

Innovative technology based on supercapacitors eliminates any battery maintenance. The device accumulates energy while the mains is present and uses it during outages to send LoRa messages.

This product is ideal for monitoring the sector supplying freezers, cold rooms, generators, boiler rooms, electrical panels, lift pumps, second homes, computer rooms, etc.

Finally, the care given to the radio part of the product and its antenna ensures a remarkable range of several kilometers.

Installation and start-up:

  • Plug the detector into a standard AC outlet connected to the electrical circuit to be monitored.
  • The mains presence indicator will flash green for approximately 2 minutes: the device is building up a reserve of energy stored in its supercapacitors.
  • When the green light turns steady, the detector has completed energy storage and becomes operational.
  • Prepare the JOIN by configuring the detector’s DeviceEUI and AppKey on your LoRaWAN network. The activation of this product is OTAA type.
  • The JOIN is automatic when sending a message if no JOIN has been performed or succeeded before.
  • Simulate a power outage by unplugging the detector: a LoRa message should be pushed successfully immediately.


The conditions for triggering an alert to the LoRaWAN network are:

  • a power outage of more than 100 ms (5 periods at 50 Hz) triggers a power outage alert. A LoRa message is then pushed to port 1 with Payload 0x00.
  • a return of the mains without interruption for at least 10 seconds (500 periods at 50 Hz) triggers a power restoration alert. A LoRa message is then pushed to port 1 with Payload 0x01.
  • Every 24 hours of operation, a LoRa heartbeat message is pushed to port 2 with Payload 0x01.
